We are the Sensing Group, part of the Institute of Computer Science in Vorarlberg (ICV), within the School of Computer Science at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), in Dornbirn.
Our research centres on integrated sensing and communication (ISAC): the signals and networks that connect devices can also sense the world, and the sensors that observe it must communicate, efficiently and securely. We study this in real-world applications, from Wi-Fi that detects people to acoustic monitoring of hydropower plants, under the lens of performance, efficiency, and security. We actively collaborate with industry partners in the Vorarlberg region and with research groups within the SCS and beyond.
Reading the Wi-Fi, RF, acoustic, and vibration signals a space already carries to understand people, activity, and machines, and finding the limits of what each modality can reveal.
