Acoustic sensing for predictive maintenance at the 2nd ICV-HSG CC-Workshop
On 3 December 2024, we took part in the 2nd CC-Workshop of the ICV-HSG, hosted by Haberkorn in Wolfurt. The CC-Workshop is a recurring, cross-industry gathering that brings the Institute of Computer Science in Vorarlberg together with companies from across the region for an open, practical exchange around sensing and data. Run under the Chatham House Rule, it is one of the ways the institute works on technology transfer in Vorarlberg: connecting academic research with the concrete problems of local industry, and building a stable, ongoing dialogue between the two.
Our talk, Hearing Problems: Exploring Acoustic Sensing for Predictive Maintenance, showed how sound can reveal faults in machinery before they turn into failures, work carried out with our Master’s students Valentin Huber, Stefan Krummenacher, Tibor Haller, and Jonas Länzlinger. It opened a good exchange with industry participants on where acoustic and vibration monitoring can add real value on the shop floor.
