Two Bachelor's theses completed: freight visibility and secure IoT onboarding
Two Bachelor’s theses were concluded on the same day.
Louis Hollinger completed Beyond Dots on a Map: Designing and Evaluating a Truck-First Visibility Prototype for B2B Road Freight Logistics, a full working prototype for truck-first shipment visibility in road freight, spanning custom hardware, a fault-tolerant event backend, an evaluation on real road routes, and a business case. A demo of the prototype:

Vito Emanuel Steiner completed AI-Driven Secure IoT Onboarding via MUD-based Segmentation in Industrial Networks. Onboarding an IoT device by blindly trusting its Manufacturer Usage Description (MUD) profile is risky: a flawed or malicious profile goes straight into the network. His five-stage pipeline vets a MUD file before deployment, combining deterministic checks, YANG schema validation, and conformance testing with a vulnerability-library ruleset and an LLM-driven expert assessment.
Congratulations to both!
